I. Love. Food. When I moved to Dallas the first thing my Husband and I did was create an Excel Google gocument of all of the places I wanted to go. As we went to them gave them each a rating and jotted down what I or my company had. That's how anal and enthusiastic I am about life - just image what I will do when you find the right home...
Just in case you are not familiar with the area, or you would like to judge me on my favorites, please see below for my recommendations in the East Dallas, Uptown and Park Cities Neighborhoods.
More coming soon!
Cane Rosso has multiple locations throughout the DFW area. Photo is from their website.
Mot Hai Ba - North Vietnamese Cuisine
One of the most interesting menu's I have seen in a while, I love this place for its inconspicuous location and delicious food. Get the crab, it's messy but delicious!
The Porch - New American
Great for groups, with a lively atmosphere, great food and great portions.
Tei Tei Robata Bar - Japanese, Sushi
This was one of the first restaurants I went to in Dallas and it did not disappoint. The fish is super fresh and everything else delicious. They have a very cool private table where you have to take your shoes off and sit on the ground - for next time.
Cane Rosso Lakewood - Neapolitan Pizza (image left)
My absolute favorite pizza in Dallas. Mind you, I prefer the Neapolitan style which is so thin you practically have to eat it with a fork and knife. Their Lakewood location is also my favorite because of the massive dining rooms and large pourch which is perfectly lit at night.
Liberty Burger - Can we please talk about the Baby Bella. Baby it is not. This is a man's meal that I could chow down on every night if I didn't have a figure to uphold. Beef. Perfectly fried onion ring. Queso. Mushrooms. 'Nuf said.
Savor at night is one of the coolest restaurants in town with zero walls and 100% windows. Photo was taken from their website.
Meddlesome Moth - Bistro
I love the atmosphere here as well as the amazing tap beer selection. I have had almost everything on the menu and it is all great. Go for a causal lunch or fun group dinner.
Nick and Sams's - Steakhouse
Go with at least four people so that you can share the Bone in Porterhouse, it will set you back 150 bucks but it is more than worth it.
Gloria's - Latin Cuisine
I love this place mainly because of their black bean dip. You will find me at their Lemon location post boxing class picking up giant cups of it for five bucks - best deal in town.
Common Table - Burgers, Lunch
Great place for a casual lunch in the uptown area; they also have great beers on tap!
Scardello - Artisan Cheese and Wine Market
The knowledgeable staff is always friendly and willing to answer any questions that you might have. They have an amazing selection of cheeses as well as freshly made sandwiches. If you are looking for something fun to do they also have classes you can take on all things cheese.
Savor - Gastropub (image left)
The walls of this restaurant are made of floor to ceiling windows that offer beautiful views of Klyde Warren Park. Go at night for an even prettier view and bring along some friends so that you don’t feel guilty about ordering everything on the menu. My standout bite was the seared pork belly with a lemon butter – which literally melts in your mouth. Their only downfall is they don’t serve bread to sop up this beautiful sauce.
East Hampton Sandwich Company now has multiple locations around the DFW area. Photo was taken from their website.
East Hampton Sandwich Company - Sandwiches, Lunch (image left)
I originally went here for the Lobster Roll and it was spectacular, not loaded with mayo and huge chunks of lobster which in my book is how they are supposed to be. Their homemade chips are not too shabby either...
Nonna - Northern Italian
Located across the street from a Whole Foods, this joint is a little out of place for its absolutely amazing homemade pasta. I don't get here enough!
Al Biernat's - Steakhouse
Call me crazy but I could go here and eat their arugula salad every day. At ten dollars it is the best deal in the house. Not to mention their amazing selection of steaks and wine...
The Gem - Juice Bar
Whenever I am in Preston Center I stop by the Gem to grab a couple of juices. They leave me feeling good about myself and are super refreshing and delicious!
Kuby's Sausage House - German Market
Kuby's not only has an amazing selection of meats and homemade sausages, they will also process a whole animal for you if you happen to come across one on the road...
TJ's Seafood Market - Market and Seafood Restaurant
When I really want to cook something special I come here for a beautiful piece of fish and accoutrements. I love it how they bag everything with ice and include a lemon or lime - after all it is the little things that count!
Carbone's - Italian, Meat Market and Wine
Like TJ's, Carbone's is not only a market but a restaurant. Go here for a lovely Italian meal or pick up a special cut to cook at home.
Bolsa's amazing outdoor patio is great for Fall or Spring nights. Photo was taken from their website.
Emporium Pies - Decadent Dessert
Everything about this place is beautiful, simple and delicious. The interior is quant and to the point - with a small coffee bar and a counter where the pies of the day are on display. I love their Apple Pie for its height, the Smooth Operator for its pretzel crust, and the Snowball for the crunchy coconut topping. Suggestion - get both the Smooth Operator and Snowball for the perfect combo bite of chocolate and cream.
Boulevardier - French, Wine Bar
Once you enter into Boulevardier, you are transferred to a different world. The beautiful lighting and seductive bar draw you in - and then you see the menu and cocktail list and you know you're not going home for a while…
Lucia - Northern Italian
People wait weeks, sometimes months, to get a table at this very small restaurant in the Bishop Arts District. Put a reminder on your phone for the 1st of next month and give them a ring - leave a message if you have to with your preferred dates and they will call you back letting you know their availability. Enough said?
Bolsa - American, Brunch (image left)
A bit off the beaten path from Bishop Arts, this place is one of my favorites in town and always on my cool spot to take out-of-towners to. They have two nicely sized dining rooms as well as a huge patio they open during they day. Go for brunch on Saturdays to beat the Sunday crowds or dinner on a weeknight - the bar is always lively and the open kitchen makes you want to order everything that walks by.
Oddfellows - American, Brunch
They are known for their brunch, so like Bolsa, go on a Saturday to avoid the crowds and wait 30 minutes for a table instead of 2 hours. My table split the Buffalo Mac-and-Cheese as an appetizer and let’s just says there wasn't a spec on the table left. The menu is perfectly diverse so you are likely to please a crowd with this restaurant.
Eno's - Pizzeria and Beer Bar
I have to admit this is not my favorite pizza in Dallas, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. It is a crispier paper thin crust that almost cracks when you break it, Go here for the great bar, cool atmosphere and amazing draft beers on tap. They also have a couple dining rooms upstairs that are great for groups.
